Facebook says it’s testing a downvote button

SAN FRANCISCO — Facebook says it’s testing a “downvote” button but denies it’s working on a “dislike” button, one of its most requested features

The test is running on public pages to signal inappropriate, offensive or misleading comments. When tapped, the button hides a comment and gives users additional reporting options such as “offensive,” “misleading” or “off topic.”

Here’s the statement Facebook provided: “We are not testing a dislike button. We are exploring a feature for people to give us feedback about comments on public page posts. This is running for a small set of people in the U.S. only.”
